Today I wanted to share a few examples of my mixed media fabric portraits with you.  All of these were created with the same techniques that were explained in the previous posts.

Featured above is a commissioned portrait I created for Charlie Brenneman, aka “The Spaniard.”  This image commemorated one of his biggest UFC wins.  Below is a detail of the free-motion machine stitching I did as an embellishment.

The next portrait I named “Waiting for Sundown.”  I used colors that suggest it is being lit by the early rays of sunset. My daughter, Colleen, was the model for this one.

The next portrait is called “Retro Sisters.” This is a more stylistic portrait of my sister, Julie, and I when we were much(!) younger.  I used an old Polaroid photo of us as a reference.  I think it captures a classic random moment: two sisters posed in front of the family car; me, with curlers in my hair, holding our dachshund, and my sister impatiently standing still for the photo.
